Because it pays, and because it is the same skill.
Plenty of security companies would hide this page. We would rather be accurate: client software work is part of what this company does and part of what it earns.
It is also not a detour. You cannot compile a defence into a binary you do not understand. The people who write the protection are the people who write the applications, and each keeps the other honest.
